Art

This past week I was able to get coffee with an artist I actually first got to know through a show we were both in, he had e-mailed me something about the show and I answered his question, after checking out each other’s websites we stayed in touch and linked up on facebook and have stayed in touch since then. He doesn’t live here but is originally from here so actually knows where I live now better then I do. This past week he was out visiting family and wanted to meet for coffee with a local artist friend of his. So we did in the typical suburban Starbucks we discussed art, grants, pushing the limits, the jet program to Japan, dreams, Flagstaff and much more. His friend inspired me with her absolute confidence in her goals, her seemingly opposite interests and how this pieced together into a rich life. It was fun, and inspiring. I went home and created art for the first time in months and am inspired to apply for a new project. I feel the creative buzz again. I know it will be forced out in a short week when art will be replaced by words crammed together on a page for my global business class, but I also know now art will come back, when I am done with school, it is not gone just dormant.

During our conversation I was introduced to several new artist that I thought I would share since they really did inspire me. Holly Roberts,  Robert and Shana Parkeharison and Mike and Doug Starn.

Incredible all of them for different reasons. I love to find new artists to look at, to admire, to be energized by. All this reminded me how important it is to stay in the world that you want to be apart of. To try to new things, meet new people, visit new websites, find new inspiration, and for me that was a simple cup of coffee with two artists.
